Reading Success Textbook 1

Contents: Students are first taught the letter sounds of the alphabet.  Then they learn to blend words having the short vowels: a e i o u.  In the each of the lessons, students read interesting stories with words they have just learned.

After students learn the short vowel words in each lesson, then they read stories first from Adventures and then from Surprises.

Contents: Combination sounds: th ch sh and wh.  Making words plural by adding "s." Silent e. Long vowels a e i o u. Letters "y" and "w" as vowels. Short vowels  a e i o u.

Eight irregular vowel combinations.  Various vowels followed by "r." Diphthongs ou and ough. Vowel sounds igh eigh and al.  Holidays and states.  Commencement.  Using a dictionary.

Learning Manuscript and Cursive Writing

Contents: Students can learn either manuscript or cursive writing.  Many students when learning cursive writing are unable to read the words.  By combining both types of writing, students are able to understand what they are writing.
